CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Dick Spence called the meeting to order at 1944 hours in the clubhouse.

READING OF THE MINUTES: The minutes of the previous meeting were presented by Secretary Grimm and approved as read.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear Commodore David Krows announced that Captain Carl Larson was the senior member in attendance.

CORRESPONDENCE:

The Secretary read letters of withdrawal from Captains Misha Shefts and Richard Glein:

The Secretary also read a request for use of the Club by Captain Niederkrome on March 16, 2002. Additionally, a request for use of the club by Captain Dennis Roehl on November 10, 2001 was read.

ACTION ON CORRESPONDENCE: Upon a motion from the floor and voice vote, the requests for withdrawal by Captain Shefts and Glein were approved by the general membership.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: None.

OFFICER’S REPORTS:

Commodore: Commodore Spence reported on recent events:

  • Entertainment Night on September 21st
  • Second Deck Acoustical completed by end of October

Vice-Commodore: Vice-Commodore Terry Baker reported that the gutters on the sheds had been cleaned and thanked members who helped. He also reported that the bolts on the ladders at the end of each pier were being tightened with rotted lumber replaced.

The Vice-Commodore further reported that Captain Alving had designed new braces for the roofs and the old ones would be replaced on a priority basis.

In closing, the Vice-Commodore asked members to make reciprocal guests feel welcome.

Rear Commodore: Rear Commodore David Krows thanked all who had helped him this past year as Rear Commodore.

FLEET CAPTAIN: Reiche thanked all who helped make his successful and again introduced Captain Bob Randolph.

TREASURER: Treasurer Lew Titland mentioned that address changes need to be put in the annual and also asked members to get their dues to him in a timely fashion.

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: Chairman Bob Gunderson made a pitch for the ballot measures to raise annual dues to $550 and the introduction of life membership with a member paying 50% of annual dues.

BY-LAWS VOTE: Captain Jim Musgrove presided over the balloting for the by-laws changes.

COMMODORE’S FAREWELL: Commodore Dick Spence took a few minutes to thank all those who had helped him over the past year and over the years he has gone through the chairs.

CHANGE OF WATCH: Past Commodore Carl Weiss presided over the change of watch ceremony, with Past Commodore Dick Timmerman decommissioning the existing bridge and Past Commodore Phil Hardwick installing the new bridge and board for 2001-2002.

NEW COMMODORE’S COMMENTS: Commodore Baker thanked Past Commodore Dick and his mate Jan Spence, presenting them with special gifts.

REGATTA POWER: Chairman Bob Lindal reported that the Stimson Race results were tremendous with all ten racers earning hardware. QCYC earned first overall, most racers and team trophy honors.

ELECTION RESULTS: Jim Musgrove reported life membership and dues both passed.

SPECIAL AWARDS: P/C Dick Spence presented the Skippers of the Year awards to Captains Bob Lindal and Sherri Weiss. Member of the Year was awarded to outgoing chairman Bob Gunderson.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Captain Ron Dawson presented a plaque to Bob Gunderson for his efforts as board chairman.

Captain Harris Johnson Reported that Dick Smith is terminally ill with liver cancer.

NEW BUSINESS: Captain Barry Eberhardt reported that the Special People’s Cruise is coming up on December 2nd, 2001.

RECEPTION: Rear Commodore Krows announced that Captain Carl Larson was the senior member in attendance. 128 members were present with 13 past commodores present and recognized. The junior member was Captain Dave Rathje, #542.

QUARTER POT: Captain Carl Larson drew a slew of names for Friday Lunch and Quarter Pot. Ron Nolan and Scott Grimm won Friday Lunch.

GOOD AN WELFARE: Captain Bob Randolph provided good and welfare.

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 2141 hours.
