CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Yates called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Commodore McGillin led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear Commodore Roberts recognized Captain Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read several general correspondence letters and letters of resignation from Captains Jim Niederkrome and George Sainsbury, both of whom will no longer be actively boating. He read letters of reciprocity from Tacoma, Rainier, Bremerton, and Olympia Yacht Clubs, along with three in Eastern Canada.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: Applications from Captain James VanWagenen, Steve Coughlin, Brint Field, Rick Anderson, Brooke Kimes, Patrick Wilson, Kurt Hanson, and Larry Houk were read. All except Captain Hanson were present and recognized.

COMMODORE: Commodore Yates reported on a successful Labor Day event, and thanked Captain Diane Carlisle and P/C Dick Timmerman for their work. He noted upcoming events including the Fishing Derby, Entertainment Night, a Friday Night Social on September 28, and “Closing Day” on September 29.

VICE-COMMODORE: Vice Commodore McGillin reported on work the Docks Committee was undertaking, and stated that help would be appreciated. He also noted that winter moorage at Bainbridge was being set up.

REAR-COMMODORE: Rear Commodore Roberts reported that P/C Lynn Montgomery was working the electronic security problems, and noted an upcoming grounds work party.

TREASURER: Treasurer John Rogers reported that the Club’s net income YTD was about $100K, and summarized major accounts. He described the budgeting process, and reported that about 20 Senior Life Member letters were recently sent. The Treasurer reported that Captain Steve Farber will be filling in for him during his several week absence.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES: P/C and Board Chairman Jeff Ewell reported that at its most recent meeting, the Board voted to forward to the membership without endorsement Captain Jerry Zuvich’s proposal to amend the Bylaws to eliminate the Architectural Advisory Committee.

He reported that Captain Jim Bailey pointed out to the Board that the notice of the proposed dues increase, which was to be voted on September 12th, was postmarked such that it was in members’ hands for 4 days more than proscribed, in violation of Club Bylaws, and that the notice went out under the Commodore’s and Board Chairman’s joint signatures instead of the Bylaw Chairman’s signature. Thus, that vote would not be held tonight. To save $450 in postage, the Board anticipates that the notice will be re-mailed in the same mailing as Captain Zuvich’s proposal.

Last, the Chairman reported that Board Member Bruce Cullen and Architectural Advisory Committee Chairman Bob Hutnik have resigned their positions.

FLEET CAPTAIN: On behalf of the Fleet Captains, Commodore Yates awarded summertime screw-up flags to Captain Al Reiche (for his boat sailing itself), Captain Brian Barton (for coming in to the Outstation without a burgee), P/C Rolstad (for running out of fuel in sight of the Kingston fuel dock), Captain Tom McGrath (for running out of fuel in Cattle Pass), and P/C Dave Krows (for destroying a young child’s beach ball).
