CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Yates called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1932 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice-Commodore McGillin led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore Roberts recognized Captain Al Teel as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as amended.

CORRESPONDENCE: None.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: Applications from Captains Kim Nance, Philip Strnard, Gordon Niemi, and Robert Lundquist were read; Captain Lundquist was present and recognized.

 

COMMODORE: Commodore Yates reported on a successful Opening Day event, and thanked Captain Larry and Wendy Meyers, Captain Joanne Martenson, and Captain Bill and Michelle Bressler in particular for their help. He reminded members of the May 18 Friday Night Social, to be hosted by the sailors, the May 26-28 Memorial Day event at the Bainbridge Outstation, the Saturday, June 9 social to be hosted by Kyle Bixby and friends, and the June 13 Old Timer's Night event.

The Commodore, on behalf of the Nominating Committee, asked for any more nominations from the floor for the '07-'08 slate of Officers / Trustees. With none offered, the nominations were closed.

Last, the Commodore reported the passing of Captain Dick Best, for whom a memorial will be held on June 5 at the main station.

VICE-COMMODORE: Vice Commodore McGillin asked attendees to keep an eye on the facilities as it gets busier during the summer, and to review the rules and accommodate each other at the Outstations during the summer.

REAR-COMMODORE: Rear Commodore Roberts reported that the Pride of Queen City work party had 113 participants, and that Opening Day had 60 visiting boats at the main station. Also, he noted that the Junior Yachting Club is gearing up for the summer.

TREASURER: Treasurer John Rogers reported that Opening Day accounting is nearly complete, and he thanked Captain Bill Fields for his work selling ticket books.

FLEET CAPTAIN: Fleet Captain George Austin reminded members of the Big Brothers Cruise to the Bainbridge Outstation in June, and noted that 22 boats have already signed up for the summer cruise to the San Juan Islands.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

REGATTA POWER: P/C Lynn Montgomery reminded attendees of the Poulsbo race the upcoming weekend, and encouraged all to ride along on a participant's boat if they're interested in predicted log racing.

CLUB MANAGER: Captain Jess Hill reported that over $6200 in sales were generated at the bar during Opening Day weekend, and told members that in the future, only one color ticket will be used to purchase drinks – a yellow ticket, worth $1 each.

OTHER REPORTS:

Captain Ed Jennerich, on behalf of RBAW, reported on several bills passed in Olympia recently and their impact on the Club.

Captain Diede Janel invited members to the May 18 Friday Night Social, to be sponsored by the sailing group.

Captain Andrea Schock summarized activities planned for the Memorial Day event at Bainbridge, to include a barbecue by Captain Dick Geving. She requested volunteers, particularly a “children's activities” person.

Captain Dave Svensen thanked those who helped clean, paint, and otherwise rehab the docks recently, and noted that summer projects include re-piping the water on Dock 1 and extending the walkway on the end of Dock 2.

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS: P/C Lynn Montgomery noted that the vessel Krow's Nest was awarded the screw-up flag for moving by itself; it was suggested that Hemingway may be responsible.

RECEPTION: R/C Roberts again recognized Captain Al Teel as the senior member in attendance and Captain Larry Richards as the junior member in attendance. 43 members were present, and 4 Past Commodores were present and recognized.

QUARTER POT: Captain Al Teel pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains Bob Prestebak and Jim Damery won Friday lunches, and Captain Chuck Cooper won the quarter pot.
