CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Yates called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1940 hours.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice-Commodore McGillin led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore Roberts recognized Captain Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.
CORRESPONDENCE: None.
APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: Applications from Captains Chad Morse and Brett Yates were read; Captain Morse was present and recognized.
ELECTION OF ’07-’08 OFFICERS / TRUSTEES: P/C Scott Grimm presided over the membership’s unanimous election of V/C Bill McGillin as Commodore, R/C Dale Roberts as Vice Commodore, Captain Ed Jennerich as Rear Commodore, Captain Eric Wood as Secretary, Captain John Rogers as Treasurer, and Captains Mark Weiss and John Alving as Trustees for the 2007-2008 year.
NEW MEMBER INITIATION: Membership Chairman Mark LaFountaine presided over the initiations of Captains Mike Gleason, Jack Miller, and Robert Lundquist.
COMMODORE: Commodore Yates reported that a neighbor’s concern expressed via e-mail about fouled water near the Club was addressed, and asked members to be cognizant of those concerns. He noted that Boat U.S. encourages membership under the Club’s auspices; it was noted that RBAW also allows half-price membership. He also reported that Deer Harbor Marina is for sale for an asking price of $5.5 MM. Last, the Commodore affirmed his intention to make this year and the Club’s future successful, and stated his support for the Club’s Officers and the Board.
VICE-COMMODORE: Vice Commodore McGillin reiterated his support for the Commodore, Officers, and Board of Trustees on all matters.
REAR-COMMODORE: Rear Commodore Roberts reported that by the next meeting, he expected to have a bicycle rack installed at the Main Station.
FLEET CAPTAIN: Fleet Captain George Austin reminded members of the Big Brothers Cruise to the Bainbridge Outstation in June, and asked for the Commodore’s permission to leave boats unattended at the Outstation between that Cruise and the July 4th event, which was granted. He noted that 25 boats have already signed up for the summer cruise to the San Juan Islands.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
REGATTA POWER: Captain Bob Lindal reported results of the Poulsbo Race, and noted the upcoming Filucy Bay and ICR races.
CLUB MANAGER: Captain Jess Hill reported that Friday lunches will be available from Willy during the summer; the bar will be open.
HOUSE: Captain Jim Damery noted that new stainless steel doors on the barbecue have been installed, courtesy of Captain George Austin. Also, he reminded members of the Fall Fishing Derby at the Bainbridge Outstation.
OTHER REPORTS:
MEMORIAL DAY: Captains Ed Jennerich and Andrea Schock, along with Tammara Hillman, summarized adult and children’s activities planned for the Memorial Day event at Bainbridge, to include a barbecue by Captain Dick Geving.
Captain Jerry Zuvich thanked the 110+ people who participated in the Pride of Queen City work party and the 15 who contributed funds toward the meal. He specifically thanked P/C Rich McCroskey and Captains Jim Damery and Dave Svendsen for their help.
Captain Gary Stone updated members on the 520 Committee’s work with Washington Department of Transportation; he stated that a spokesperson is being located on behalf of both QCYC and SYC.
Captain Karin McLean reminded members of the June 2 Tarette’s Dock Party – set up is at 11 AM, sales start at noon, and a hamburger bash will be at 4 PM.
OLD BUSINESS: Captain Doug Lindal reminded members of the Saturday, June 16 Race for the Cure, for which he and Suzie Roberts are coordinating the Club’s participation. So far, 11 people had signed up, with more contributing financial support; Doug offered to buy breakfast at the Club for participants.
NEW BUSINESS: Moorage Chairman Bruce Ramon and Rear Commodore Roberts introduced prospective members who have already submitted Applications for Membership – Captains Phillip Strnard, Gordon Niemi, and Kim Nance.
RECEPTION: R/C Roberts again recognized Captain Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance and Captain Mitch Garden as the junior member in attendance. 72 members were present, and 9 Past Commodores were present and recognized.
QUARTER POT: Kris McCroskey pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains Denny Roehl and Steve Farber won Friday lunches, and Captain Barb Wood won the quarter pot.
