CALL TO ORDER: Vice-Commodore McGillin called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1930 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Rear Commodore Roberts led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore Roberts recognized Captain Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.

CORRESPONDENCE: None.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: An application from Captain Virginia Harris, who was present and introduced at the June 13 meeting, was read.

NEW MEMBER INITIATION: Membership Chairman Mark LaFountaine presided over the initiations of Captains Randy Garvie, Brian Calvert, and Jeannie Lone.

GUEST SPEAKER: Commander Al Keim of the Seattle Power Squadron summarized the Power Squadron’s work and benefits to those who belong, and thanked the Club for the use of the main station for the Squadron’s meetings.

VICE-COMMODORE: Vice Commodore McGillin reported that the large locks are temporarily closed for repairs, and reminded members to update their registration and insurance documents in the office. He also asked for volunteers to help Captain Tom Youngs’ upcoming bulk fuel purchase activity.

REAR-COMMODORE: Rear Commodore Roberts asked attendees to remain alert to security issues during the summer, and reminded all to “talk up” the Club during their cruising. He also reported that Captain Neville Lambert passed away.

TREASURER: Treasurer John Rogers reported that the Club’s reserve funds total nearly $700K, that July billings are upcoming, and that Captains Craig Ranta and Steve Farber are updating the Club’s computer system.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES: P/C and Board Chairman Jeff Ewell discussed the reserve study, and its conclusion that $3-$6 MM will be needed over the next 15 years for asset replacement. He reported that the Planning and Finance Committee recommended a $50/year dues increase, to $600/year, and a moorage increase of 7.84% (about 30 cents/foot/month), both to take effect on October 1, 2007. Plans are underway to allow members to vote on this recommendation at the September 12, 2007 general members’ meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

REGATTA POWER: Captain Bob Lindal reported that the ICR race is coming in July.

CLUB MANAGER: Captain Jess Hill reported that Captain Philip Strnrd from Always Perfect Yacht Interiors made a cover for the new 3rd level rolling bar.

OTHER REPORTS:

P/C Scott Grimm reported that the next milfoil application is expected in October.

Captain Gary Stone reported that a mediator has been selected to work with parties affected by the 520 Bridge expansion project, and that a law firm has been engaged to represent the Club.

Captain Tom Youngs reported that about 30 boats had signed up for the bulk diesel fuel purchase at Ballard Oil, and that a similar opportunity may come up in November.

RBAW President, Captain Robert Murphy, told members of the letter the Association sent to state officials regarding the 520 Bridge and its impact on the boating community.

P/C Carl Weiss, on behalf of Captain Mark and Lupe Weiss, reminded members of the September 22 Entertainment Night, to include a Tarette Steak Fry. If interested in participating, contact one of the Weiss’s.

Captain Dave Svendsen reported that summer projects on the docks included replacing some water pipes and a dock extension.

Captain Jim Damery reported that the Fishing Derby is scheduled for the Bainbridge Outstation for September 15-16, and will include a steak dinner.

Captain Al Reiche told members of his intention to begin a “Closing Day” event on Saturday, September 29, to include a boat parade and a meal.

Margaret Krows reported that “Support the Troops” donations included $770 in cash as well as many needed items, which was being forwarded to Commodore Bob and Crystal Yates’ son’s unit in Baghdad.

OLD BUSINESS: Captain Jerry Zuvich presented to the Secretary documents with 21 additional members’ signatures supporting an earlier petition to bring to the vote of the members a modification to the role of the Architectural Advisory Committee.

NEW BUSINESS: Captain Bruce Ramon exchanged burgees with representatives of the Kuring-Gai Yacht Club in Sydney, Australia, who recently purchased a vintage Halvorsen boat from Bruce.

RECEPTION: R/C Roberts again recognized Captain Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance and Captain Philip Strnrd as the junior member in attendance. 62 members were present, and 5 Past Commodores were present and recognized.

QUARTER POT: Margaret Krows pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains Todd Wallick and Karin McLean won Friday lunches, and Captain Jess Wallick won the quarter pot.
