CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Yates called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice-Commodore McGillin led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore Roberts recognized P/C Al Smith as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read a letter of thanks from the Seafair Logboom Chairman thanking the Club for the use of a dock, and a letter of withdrawal from Captain Rodney Martin, which was approved by the membership.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: An application for membership from Captain Pete Collins, who was present and recognized, was read.

COMMODORE: Commodore Yates thanked those who planned, decorated, and helped with the Sweetheart’s Dinner. He reported results of the SYC/QCYC Challenge Race, won by the Club, and noted that over 20 boats had signed up for the President’s Day cruise to the Outstation. He encouraged members to take a fresh look at the Trophy Case, and asked for a volunteer to provide a decorated boat for Opening Day.

VICE-COMMODORE: Vice Commodore McGillin thanked Captain Tom Youngs for his work on the docks guiding Waterfront Construction’s work, and reported that Captain Jerry Zuvich will lead the project to upgrade Dock 2 electrical service.

The Vice Commodore reported that Captains Kelly Stocklin and Jim Damery completed the Outstation deck strengthening project on two successive weekends, and reminded attendees of the Outstation work party scheduled for the weekend of April 21.

Last, the Vice Commodore noted that the Pride of Queen City work party at the main station is scheduled for the weekend of April 28, and he asked for a volunteer to lead work inside the clubhouse.

REAR-COMMODORE: Rear Commodore Roberts reported that P/C Rich McCroskey led a 29-person crew at the recent grounds clean-up – more work was completed than expected. He also summarized the activities of the Junior Sailing Club, which will again have summer classes for 8-17 year-olds.

TREASURER: Treasurer John Rogers noted that electrical bills will be higher on the next billing, due to the very cold weather of late. Twelve members are tardy on their payments to the Club, and will be assessed a $50 late fee. Large bills for property taxes and from Waterfront Construction are expected soon.

FLEET CAPTAIN: Fleet Lieutenant Al Reiche reminded members of the traditional cruise to Andrews Bay on St. Patrick’s Day weekend; there will be an Irish dinner by Willie on Friday night, and reservations are required.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

OPENING DAY: Chairman Larry Meyers and his wife Wendy discussed Opening Day festivities; the theme this year is “Musical Memories.” Captain Joanne Martenson is heading the Club’s decorating efforts, and volunteers are needed for some activities, including the Thursday night meal, marshaling the docks, and Sunday brunch.

OLD BUSINESS: Captain Jess Hill reported that he would attempt to lawfully get the inflatable boat found on the premises registered in the Club’s name.

NEW BUSINESS: None.

RECEPTION: R/C Roberts again recognized P/C Al Smith as the senior member in attendance and Captain Jim Hess as the junior member in attendance. 31 members were present, along with 2 guests. Three Past Commodores were present and recognized.

QUARTER POT: Captain Joanne Martenson pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains Bill Field and Jim Hess won Friday lunches, and Captain Joanne Martenson won the quarter pot.

GOOD & WELFARE: Commodore Yates distributed _________ to the ladies present.

The meeting was adjourned at 2028 hours; the Commodore graciously declined the Secretary’s public show of appreciation.
