CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Yates called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Rear-Commodore Roberts led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore Roberts recognized Captain Ray Meyers as the senior member in attendance.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.
CORRESPONDENCE: None.
APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: An application from Captains Mike Gleason and Jack Miller were read; both were present and recognized.
NOMINATIONS FOR 2007-2008 OFFICERS AND BOARD: P/C Scott Grimm described the nomination process, and introduced ’07-’08 nominees: For Commodore – V/C Bill McGillin; for Vice Commodore – R/C Dale Roberts; for Rear Commodore – Captain Ed Jennerich; For Secretary – Captain Eric Wood; for Treasurer – Captain John Rogers; for the Board of Trustees – Captains Mark Weiss and John Alving. At the next general members meeting, nominations from the floor will be accepted.
COMMODORE: Commodore Yates announced that there will be a new member orientation meeting on June 10, and displayed the plaque from the Bainbridge Outstation flag pole which was refurbished by Captain Richard Frisch.
REAR-COMMODORE: Rear Commodore Roberts reminded members that a copy of their Washington vessel registration should be on file in the office. He reported on a successful Outstation work party, and noted the Pride of Queen City work party the next weekend. He also reminded attendees that between May 2-6 only one car per member is allowed in the lot.
TREASURER: Treasurer John Rogers reported that April 1 billing payments are due, and that the Club remains in sound financial shape.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
REGATTA POWER: Captain Bob Lindal reported results of the first “Spring Challenge” race with SYC, which they won. At the SYC/QCYC Eagle Harbor Race, QCYC won the team trophy.
CLUB MANAGER: Captain Jess Hill reminded attendees that bar prices go up on Opening Day weekend, and reported that a new refrigerator has been purchased.
OTHER REPORTS:
OPENING DAY: Captain Larry Meyers reported that 55 people attended the previous Sunday’s appreciation dinner, and listed some of the key tasks to be managed during the upcoming event.
OUTSTATION: Chairman Eric Wood reported that 48 people participated in the previous weekend’s work party at Bainbridge, and recounted some of the key projects completed.
PRIDE OF QUEEN CITY: Captain Jerry Zuvich modeled gear to show attendees what to expect for the work party, scheduled to begin at 9 AM the following Saturday.
LABOR DAY: Chairman Diane Carlisle announced the theme of the event will be “The Dog Days of Summer,” encouraged members to plan for dog-related events to include judging, and asked attendees to think of items to donate as prizes.
520 COMMITTEE: Board Chairman Gary Stone reported that Washington DOT presented 8 options, to which the Club has responded. It is possible that the Club could end up with several more slips on Dock 3 when the work is done.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: Captain Joanne Martenson requested that the Architectural Advisory Committee present to the membership a synopsis of their plans, and the Commodore stated that such a presentation is likely.
RECEPTION: R/C Roberts again recognized Captain Ray Meyers as the senior member in attendance and Captain Larry Richardson as the junior member in attendance. 52 members were present, and 4 Past Commodores were present and recognized.
QUARTER POT: Captain Diane Carlisle pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains Andy Gerde and Jim Damery won Friday lunches, and Captain Diane Carlisle won the quarter pot.
