CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Yates called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice-Commodore McGillin led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore Roberts recognized Captain David Nelson as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read a letter of reciprocity from Viking Yacht Club for the use of moorage at Chinook Landing Marina.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: None.

COMMODORE: Commodore Yates thanked all those who help with tasks at the main station, and specifically called out Captains Damery, Geving, Zuvich, and Prestebak. He thanked Captains Ken Klett and Sherry Weiss for a successful Easter Party, and reminded attendees of the April 13 “Get Lucky” Friday Night Social.

The Commodore noted that the joint SYC/QCYC Eagle Harbor Race is the next weekend, and the Bainbridge Outstation work party is the weekend of April 21-22. The Pride of Queen City work party is on April 28, followed by Opening Day festivities.

Commodore Yates thanked P/C Dick Timmerman for building the stand for the new plasma television, and encouraged members to hand out the reprinted and updated “new member” brochure to prospective candidates.

Last, the Commodore described work that was underway to evaluate “décor” projects suggested by some of the members – a group met on April 1 and will propose these changes to the Architectural Advisory Committee. Some of the projects are being implemented; the Commodore asked members to let him know their opinions.

VICE-COMMODORE: Vice Commodore McGillin reminded members of the April 21-22 Bainbridge Outstation work party, and the April 28 Pride of Queen City work party.

REAR-COMMODORE: Rear Commodore Roberts acknowledged Membership Chairman Mark LaFountaine’s work, as well as Captain Larry and Wendy Meyers’ efforts relative to Opening Day events. He reminded members of the one car per member rule on Opening Day weekend.

TREASURER: Treasurer John Rogers reported that moorage billings have gone out, and that the by-law required funds transfers have all been completed.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES: P/C Jeff Ewell reported on the Planning and Finance Committee’s work developing a long range capital plan, and the 520 Bridge Committee’s meeting with Washington DOT. He reported that extended initiation payment terms for new members, based on their age, were approved at the last Board meeting: 21-30 year-olds may pay over 8 years, 31-40 year-olds over 6 years, and 40+ year-olds over 3 years, if they choose.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

REGATTA POWER: P/C Jeff Ewell reminded members of the upcoming SYC/QCYC Eagle Harbor Race.

CLUB MANAGER: Captain Jess Hill reminded attendees that bar prices go up on Opening Day weekend – Tuesday night is the last time to purchase tickets at regular prices.

MEMBERSHIP: Chairman Mark LaFountaine encouraged attendees to hand out copies of the updated brochure, and reiterated that extended initiation payment terms recently approved by the Board.

OTHER REPORTS:

Captain Jerry Zuvich reported that $250 has already been donated toward the Pride of Queen City work party by those who will not be able to participate, and reminded people to bring their boots and work gear.

P/C Grimm reported that milfoil application would begin the next day, and noted that the next General Member meeting will be the nomination meeting for next year’s officers.

OLD BUSINESS: Captain George Austin asked about the status of the “tile” project, and the Commodore stated that it was being reevaluated to bring the costs down.

NEW BUSINESS: Captain Carol Hess suggested that Club defibrillators should have an indicator showing the battery charge status, and/or should be checked regularly.

RECEPTION: R/C Roberts again recognized Captain David Nelson as the senior member in attendance and Captain Peter Collins as the junior member in attendance. 49 members were present, and 43 Past Commodores were present and recognized.

QUARTER POT: Captain Linda Roehl pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains Steve Hanson and Craig Ranta won Friday lunches, and Captain Mark LaFountaine won the quarter pot.

GOOD & WELFARE: None.
